All members of the university community, including students, faculty, staff, and other affiliates, can use SignOnAfrica Hotspot. No special accounts or provisioning are required. There are no service charges for individuals to use Signon Wireless. Individual users or departments may need to purchase 802.11b/g-compatible wireless cards for devices.
SignOnAfrica Hotspot is available in multiple locations around campus. Although you may be able to connect in other locations, access is not guaranteed or supported outside of the areas where UIS has planned service.
SignOnAfrica Hotspot supports any device that complies with the 802.11b/g standard. Although many operating systems and client applications can be used to configure and connect with a wireless device, The only provides support for Windows XP and Mac OS X. Step-by-step setup instructions are available for these operating systems.
